Visitors can expect a packed programme throughout the day, with highlights including:

  • Live music and performances in the main arena from the Yorkshire Military Band, local orchestras, and dance groups
  • A thrilling Free Fall Parachute Display
  • Military displays and interactive stalls in the Military Village, featuring organisations such as the Royal British Legion, 5 Towns Veterans Support Hub, and the Royal Air Force Association

  • Cadet Corner, where younger visitors can try out archery and get involved in hands-on activities with the Royal Air Forces Cadets and Army Cadets

The event aims to bring communities together while offering an opportunity to show appreciation for the Armed Forces and the vital work they do at home and abroad.

Community Spirit and Support

Cllr Josie Pritchard, Wakefield Council’s Armed Forces Champion, said:

“Wakefield Armed Forces Day is not far away now, and everyone is working hard behind the scenes to make the event bigger and better than ever this year. It will be a fun-packed and free day out for all the family to enjoy. And most importantly, it gives people an opportunity to show their support for the Armed Forces and the outstanding work they do for our country.”

Practical Information

Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead. The event is expected to be popular, so where possible, attendees should car share, use public transport, or walk to reduce traffic congestion and pressure on parking.

If the weather is warm, don’t forget to bring sun protection, hats, plenty of water and something for shade.
