Young entrepreneurs will take centre stage again this summer as Wakefield Council brings the popular Young Traders Market back to Castleford.
The event will take place at Castleford Indoor Market on Saturday 16 August from 10 am to 4 pm and promises a lively day out for all ages, with stalls run by talented young traders aged 16 to 30. Shoppers can browse a wide mix of handmade goods, art, food, fashion and more, all while supporting the next generation of local business owners.
Cllr Jack Hemingway, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth, said:
“We’ve seen incredible creativity and enthusiasm from our young traders so far this year, and we’re thrilled to be offering another chance for them to showcase their businesses. The August event is all about celebrating our local talent, encouraging entrepreneurship, and creating a brilliant day out for the community. We hope to see plenty of people coming along to support them.”
Events like the Young Traders Market are a springboard for budding businesses, helping young people build confidence, gain valuable experience and connect with customers face-to-face. Many past participants have gone on to develop their ideas into thriving ventures.
While this event shines a spotlight on young entrepreneurs, Wakefield Council continues to support traders of all ages, with regular events and opportunities across the district’s markets.
Young people aged 16 to 30 can now apply for a free stall at the August market — an ideal chance to test out a business idea or grow an existing small business in a supportive, busy setting. A free gazebo and table are provided for all traders.
Applications are open now and close on Friday 1 August. Anyone interested should email [email protected] with the subject line YTM EVENT to request an application pack.
In the meantime, mark Saturday 16 August in your calendar and head down to Castleford Indoor Market to discover unique finds and help nurture Wakefield’s young business talent.
