Whether it’s a day down on the farm learning how to milk the cows or an African adventure getting up close and personal with a very large cat, there are plenty of animals to meet in Yorkshire.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Doncaster provides a walkthrough experience that is unique in the UK. Visitors to its Lion Country reserve enjoy an on foot safari in safety along 800m of path into the reserve that is home to 13 lions rescued from a Romanian Zoo.

Experience a hands on animal encounter on the traditional working farm, hitch a ride with a 4 x 4 Adventure Experience and relax in the country tearoom while the little ones burn off the remainder of their energy in the huge fun filled Wizzick Play Barn

Heeley City Farm, offers a relaxing slice of the countryside in Sheffield. You can meet friendly animals, play in the under 8’s playground and enjoy some healthy vegan and vegetarian food in the farm kitchen.

The International Centre for Birds of Prey in Helmsley has the largest collection of birds of prey in the north of England. Housing birds from the tiny Burrowing Owl to the gigantic Steller’s Sea Eagle, there is lots to see for all ages. The birds are flown three times a day and it’s a great time to take photographs. Situated next to the historic Duncombe Park house the site covers about 10 acres.

Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley mixes the fascination of a working farm with anarchic fun of an adventure playground and the comfort of good food.
