The BIG Summer Festival
Visit Eureka! this summer for a boredom-busting festival of tech, science, performance and play, including digiPlaySpace, a new exhibition all the way from Canada!
Come rain or shine, our Big Summer festival will include a fun mix of science busking, interactive storytelling and craft activities, plus kids (and grown-ups) can try their hand at coding, animation and more with a changing programme of digital activities. There will also be regular visits from storytellers Gacko and Ian Douglas, and experience the explosive science of Professor Pumpernickel. Visitors will also be able to experience the best and most innovative in digital art for kids in digiPlaySpace, in Europe for the very first time.
Magna presents... Yorkshire’s largest indoor inflatable adventure zone for under 11s.
Bounce, boing, jump, slide, bop and boogie for a full 75 mins of high adrenaline fun! The purpose built indoor world of adventure is a safe environment for your kids to let off some steam during the summer holidays.
Are your little Mayhem Makers up for the Bootcamp Challenge? Who will be the Last Kid Standing? Can anyone conquer the Mountain Climb? Or maybe they’d prefer to whizz around the 15ft Helter Skelter, take the plunge down the Drop Slide or bop and boogie in the Candy Twist Disco Dome.
Bring the family and dive into the world of mysteries, clues and science shows this summer at the National Railway Museum.
They've lined up a wide range of fun activities which will put young minds to work, from writing stories in Case Files to learning about forces in the science shows alongside their exciting science busking demos. And if that's not enough to tempt you to visit, there's delicious food, exciting rides on the Miniature Railway and Mallard Experience and two vast spaces packed with stunning locomotives, carriages and other railway vehicles.
Indoor meets Outdoor
William's Den is a new and exciting adventure attraction, giving children the chance to connect with nature and get active as they explore a custom designed complex that brings the great outdoors inside.
They are creating a unique environment, inside and out, where children can play, explore, run, climb, build dens and learn, all in an open, rural and natural setting with a range of facilities tailored to families.
William's Den will be a place where children can run wild and explore to their hearts content - and they have even thought of the grown-ups too, with plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy the day together.
The Return of the Vikings
Head to the Jorvik Viking Centre and hop aboard the improved ride experience and you’ll be transported back to the year AD960; Eric Bloodaxe, the last Viking King in Jorvik, has been expelled and the city is transforming itself. You will discover the impact of international trade on Viking-Age York, including the evolution of a multi-cultural society in the city, as it’s not just trade goods that flowed into Jorvik but people from across the globe!
JORVIK’s gallery experiences have been completely updated, with new display cases allowing you to get up close to these precious, Viking artefacts. You will have the chance to dig deeper into the Viking story of York using the latest in cutting-edge technology located throughout the centre.
New and Exciting
Summit Indoor Adventure in Selby is full of fun-filled activities suitable for all ages including: climbing, skiing, aerial trek, ten pin bowling, soft play, skate and BMX.
You can tuck in to a range of delicious food in the Adventure Café or dining area and sit back and relax with a hot drink or choose from a selection of beers and cocktails from the bar. And it’s all under one roof!
Summit Indoor Adventure is open 7 days a week so you can do as many or as few activities as you like on each visit. So if you’re looking for a fantastic choice of fun-filled activities to keep young and old members of the family entertained or just want to try your hand at something a little different, this is the place to go.
After a 2 year absence, Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s hugely popular “Safari Nights” are back! Running every Saturday in August, the events offer extended opening hours, providing a unique opportunity to see some of the world’s rarest and most at risk animals after hours, while enjoying top live entertainment as well as a family-friendly fireworks finale.
Visitors can make the most of the summer sunshine, with last entry at 7pm, animal walk-throughs and play areas are open until 8pm, and on the concert-field the evening’s entertainment continues until just after 9pm.
YWP gives a unique walk through experience bringing them almost face to face with some of the world’s most rare animals, including Amur Leopards, Giraffes, Painted Hunting Dogs along with Lions, Lemurs and Meerkats.
The Summer Adventure
Nestled in woodland within 30 minutes of Leeds, York & Harrogate, Stockeld Park is the home of Adventures.
The Park is open for its Summer Adventure now until the 4th September, where you can enjoy lots of exciting activities such as a walk around The Enchanted Forest, with its different themed play areas, Gretels Cabin for drinks and snacks on the go.
For a small additional cost you can try out the Buccaneer boats on the lake, or take a trip around the Forest on an electric scooter. Don’t forget the Magical maze, or roller rink, indoor and outdoor inflatables, go-karts and lots of events each week of the Summer Adventure.
Discover the superhero skills of lemurs, meerkats, owls, snakes and more in close up animal encounters every day of the school holidays at Tropical Butterfly House.
Take part in superhero crafts, and have your face painted in the Activity Centre and watch out for the superhero characters. After this, you can conquer the Realm of Camelot adventure playground, take a tractor ride, or splash about in the Wet Play Park.
Don’t forget also to watch the spectacular superhero themed Bird & Animal Display and take part in the superhero games. Fun, fun, fun!
Xscape any boredom
Discover Xscape Yorkshire and enjoy fun-fuelled activities for all ages. Best of all, it never rains!
You could learn to ski or snowboard on REAL SNOW at Snozone’s incredible indoor refrigerated ski slope. You can scale the 47ft, Utah-inspired rock climbing tower and be suspended above the Centre's main atrium on the Skyride or you could head to Gravity, Xscape Yorkshire's latest addition, featuring wall-to-wall trampolines and even a foam pit - great for exercising, or just bouncing around and having fun!
Other activities include crazy golf, tenpin bowling, Laserzone or a trip to the cinema to see one of the latest blockbusters. Basically, whatever you fancy doing, Xscape has you covered!
