In a week’s time the Great Yorkshire Showground will open its gates and kick of the 160th Great Yorkshire Show.

Once again, we will have the biggest stand on site, Stand 706, and we will once again be supported by a select few of our key partners to make this show the biggest and best yet!

Here are just 11 of the many reasons why you should join us next week.

1) Oh we do like to be beside the seaside

Every year we bring a slice of the coast to Harrogate and with the weather predicted to continue being glorious, the beach at stand 706 is the perfect place to catch some rays. Not forgetting to build some sandcastles and sample some of the wonderful Brymor Ice Cream of course!

2) Come and meet our furry friends

This year, in keeping with the true spirit of the Great Yorkshire Show, we will be welcoming a whole host of cuddly critters to stand 706.

To give you that authentic beach feel you will get to meet our donkeys all the way from Dewsbury, little ones will love to get up close and personal with these guys!

We also have the return of the Alpac, once again, as Beacon Alpacas join us (don’t forget, these guys love selfies!) And, if that wasn’t enough cuteness then head over and see Thornton Hall Country Park, who will be bringing their very own menagerie to meet you.

3) Grab a drink at our pub

The Great Yorkshire Show is a huge event with over 100,000 people expected to head to Harrogate over the three days. It’s going to be hot and involve a lot of walking around to catch all of the amazing goings on.

What better way to cool down than to grab a drink at the hottest bar in town?

We have our friends from Theakston joining us and bringing samples of some of their finest ales with them.

4) See the crowning of Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub 2018

While you’re at the bar, don’t forget that one of the most hotly anticipated prizes of the year will be given out as Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub is crowned live on our stand!

The first round of votes saw thousands of votes and 800 pubs nominated, that number has since been whittled down to 18 and the public has been voting for its favourite ever since.

Who will take home the crown?

5) Yorkshire spirits

If Yorkshire’s fantastic selection of ales isn’t your thing, fear not. We will be joined by Slingsby and Halewood Wines & Spirits who will give you the chance to sample some more fantastic beverages. It’s key to keep hydrated, right?

6) Wheel into our cycle zone

With 2.6 million spectators roadside, and millions more watching at home, watching this year’s edition of the Tour de Yorkshire, it’s clear that God’s Own County is quickly becoming the home of cycling.

With this in mind, our stand will have a special cycle zone that will include artwork from official TDY artist Lucy Pittaway, the TDY trophies on display and live coverage of this year’s Tour de France.

The Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries will also be in attendance and you can teste your nerve on their famous buzz-wire.

7) Going for gold!

Every year we take a little slice of Yorkshire down to London for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and this year we came back with three awards! The stunning ‘Welcome to Yorkshire garden picked up a Gold Medal, the Best Construction award and the prestigious, public-voted, BBC People’s Choice Award.

Our garden designer Mark Gregory will be on stand to talk you through how the garden came together.

8) Say Cheeeeeeeeeeeese!

Our friends at Wensleydale Creamery will be showing us the art of making their world-famous Wensleydale cheese. Make sure you don’t miss this demonstration; their cheese is GRATE! They were also part of our award-winning show garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.

9) Row4victory

Team Row4Victory are four fearless friends from Yorkshire who will be putting their physical and mental strength to the test when they row 3,000 nautical miles across the ocean in aid of the British Legion, in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2018.
They’ll be taking part in another special challenge on our stand, this is a must-see!

10) My Den, Your Den, William’s Den

Set in the rolling landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds, William’s Den is a unique indoor-meets-outdoor adventure playscape and they will be bringing den making materials to our stand. Make sure you don’t miss out on making your very own den this year,

11) Meet Team Y

The Great Yorkshire Show is a brilliant day out for visitors but it is also a brilliant day for Team Welcome to Yorkshire as we get to meet lots of lovely Yorkshire folk. We’ll be clearly identifiable through our unique outfits and you’ll struggle to miss our massive, pink stand – so make sure you come along and say hi!
