Sea-fishing is a great bonding activity and there are regular excursions for beginners and the more advanced alike from the picturesque harbour of Whitby. Your boat will leave harbour under the shadow of the gothic Whitby Abbey and for afterwards there are a host of fish & chip cafes or seafood restaurants to choose from. River Ure at Redmire
With waterfalls and the return of salmon to this river, there’s a peaceful atmosphere and plenty of stone throwing to do.

Upriver from the car bridge and down river from the lido in Ilkley, you can cross the river on stepping stones and skim some stones for free.
