Go bananas at Go Ape! Dalby Forest
With the promise of a three hour tree top adventure swinging through the trees and flying down zip wires, the Welcome to Yorkshire team couldn’t wait to get harnessed up and discover their inner Tarzans at Go Ape! in Dalby Forest.
After a thorough safety briefing from the lovely Go Ape! tribe instructing us on how best not to die, we were let loose on the course. Once we had got over some initial nerves, you could hear excited screams from all the team as we gradually worked our way around the course high up in the trees, climbing rope ladders, traversing tricky bridges, flying down zip wires and even flinging ourselves off Tarzan swings!
The zip wires were particularly liberating, the most impressive of which was an epic 250 meters long, offering fantastic views of the surrounding forest as we each hurtled through the air with the wind whipping our faces. The only challenge was trying to land at the other end on your feet.
Unfortunately most of us ended up arriving on our rear ends with our trousers (and other nooks and crannies) full of tree bark and mud! Still full of adrenaline and excited to debrief on what had been a fantastic morning, we treated ourselves to a delicious pub lunch at The Fox and Rabbit Inn, just around the corner from Dalby Forest. All in all, a fantastically exhilarating day and a great way to bond with friends and work colleagues and possibly even combat vertigo! We can’t wait to go back!
