Following the success of last year's stellar performances, Scarborough Open Air Theatre is back in business for 2017 with another mouth-watering line-up, including:

Wednesday 24th May - The Beach Boys

Music legends The Beach Boys are set to bring Fun Fun Fun to the Yorkshire coast in 2017 as they headline a night at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. In a hit-packed career spanning more than 50 years, California’s favourite sons have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and are rightly regarded as one of the most critically acclaimed and influential bands of all time.

Announcing the Scarborough show, The Beach Boys’ Mike Love, said: “It’s great that 50 years plus we’re still in a position to be touring and sharing our music with fans around the world. “We’re really looking forward to performing outdoors on the beautiful Yorkshire coast in Scarborough. It’s going to be a great night!”

Friday 16th June - The Charlatans

The Charlatans are set to rock the Yorkshire coast next summer on what promises to be an unforgettable night at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. For more than 25 years, the globally loved band have been an inspirational force in British music chalking up 22 Top 40 singles and three number one albums.

The Charlatans – Tim Burgess, Mark Collins, Martin Blunt and Tony Rogers – remain one of the most explosive live acts around, a finely honed musical powerhouse the world adores. Their back catalogue is quite simply a non-stop jukebox of indie rock’s greatest hits including the unmistakable sound and swagger of The Only One I Know, Weirdo, Just When You're Thinkin' Things Over, One to Another, How High, North Country Boy and 2015’s stunning Come Home Baby.

Saturday 17th June - The Jacksons

Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael, five brothers from Gary, Indiana, known originally as the Jackson 5 and later The Jacksons, rose to fame for their combination of extraordinary musical talent and spectacular choreography. They soon earned the status of pop royalty in the music world, providing the launching pad for what would become Michael Jackson’s legendary solo career.

First signed to Steeltown Records, the group soon found international success at Motown with the songs: “I Want You Back”, “ABC”, “The Love You Save” and “I’ll Be There”, making history in 1970 as the first recording act whose first four singles reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. They ultimately scored 17 top forty singles on the Hot 100, following with hits such as “Never Can Say Goodbye” and “Dancing Machine”. To date, their Motown recordings alone have sold in excess of 200 million records.

Wednesday 28th June - Michael Ball and Alfie Boe

Following the stunning success of their Platinum selling album Together and 29 sold out shows across the UK in 2016, Michael Ball and Alfie Boe today announced they will play Scarborough Open Air Theatre in 2017. The nation’s favourite musical theatre star and its most beloved tenor will perform outdoors at some of the UK’s most beautiful stately homes and venues next summer before an arena tour in December.

The two critically-acclaimed artists released their Number One album Together on Decca in October. It features a stunning repertoire from the greatest Broadway shows as well as classic songs both stars have always wanted to record. Together has gone Platinum in just six weeks and is on track to become the biggest selling domestic release of 2016.

Thursday 29th June - Cliff Richard

To celebrate the release of his incredible new album “Just…Fabulous Rock ‘n’ Roll“, the UK’s most successful hit-maker, Cliff Richard, will be heading out on a summer tour of the UK’s most beautiful castles and historic locations in 2017 for a series of fully seated outdoor concerts in fabulous intimate arenas, built especially for Cliff Richard and his fans.

Cliff has returned to his roots to record an album of his favourite songs from the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll. These include Cliff’s renditions of seminal tracks such as Roll Over Beethoven, Great Balls of Fire, Sweet Little Sixteen and his very own debut single, Move It. The album also features a duet with fellow idol Elvis Presley on Blue Suede Shoes. This has been a career long dream of Cliff’s, which now becomes reality. The new release follows the huge success of his last studio album, ‘The Fabulous Rock ‘n’ Roll Songbook’ in 2013, and the celebratory ’75 at 75 – 75 Career Spanning Hits’ in 2015.

Friday 30th June - UB40

British reggae legends UB40 – featuring original members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue – are heading to Scarborough Open Air Theatre in 2017.

UB40 have released hit after hit since they formed in 1978, achieving three UK Number Ones – Red, Red Wine, I Got You Babe (ft. Chrissie Hynde) and I Can’t Help Falling In Love with You – not to mention 17 Top 10 singles. Since reuniting three years ago, Campbell, Astro and Virtue – backed on stage by a fantastic eight-piece reggae band – have developed into a formidable touring outfit.

Saturday 1st July - George Benson

Legendary 10-time Grammy Award winner George Benson – whose illustrious career spans five hit-packed decades – is to play Scarborough Open Air Theatre next summer. The live show on Saturday JulY 1, 2017 will feature George’s unmistakable voice, masterful guitar playing and an evening packed with unforgettable classics.

The winner of 10 Grammy Awards, as well as becoming a NEA Jazz Master, George has used his jazz roots as the foundation for an engaging mix of pop, R&B and other shades that add up to a style that appeals to a broad mainstream audience. He continues to astound and engage audiences taking his creative expression to new heights as he did with 2013’s Inspiration: A Tribute to Nat King Cole an exemplary work of art and fitting tribute to a legend.

Sunday 2nd July - Tom Jones

Music legend Tom Jones – whose iconic hits span six decades - today confirmed he will play at Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Sunday July 2, 2017.

Sir Tom said: “I played Scarborough OAT in 2015 and we had a wonderful time. I’m looking forward to coming back to this beautiful open air venue on the Yorkshire coast for another great night of music and good times!” With a career that has seen him sell in excess of 100 million records, Tom Jones has won countless accolades including a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Knighted by Her Majesty The Queen in 2006, the global star has amassed 36 top 40 UK hits.

Thursday 6th July - Little Mix

The world's biggest girl band LITTLE MIX are heading to Scarborough Open Air Theatre in July as part of their 'Summer Shout Out' tour. Since 2011, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall have established themselves as one of British pop’s brightest acts.

And Little Mix bring their sensational stage show – featuring such signature hits as Shout Out to My Ex, Black Magic, Hair and Wings, alongside tracks from their new album Glory Days – to Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Pop acts like Little Mix don't come along that often. Growing better and bolder with each new album, they understand the brilliance of pop music and how it relates to their passionate and loyal fan base. 2016 was an incredible year for the band with another massive No.1 single Shout Out To My Ex, and their album Glory Days, shooting straight to No.1 on the Official Albums Chart.

Sunday 9th July - Olly Murs

Olly Murs is heading to the beautiful Yorkshire coast as part of his massive 2017 summer UK tour. The chart-topping singer – one of British music’s biggest stars – will play Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Sunday July 9.

2016 has been another incredible year for Olly which has seen him celebrate not only his fourth successive No.1 Album 24 HRS but also becoming the most successful solo artist ever to come from the X Factor. New single Years and Years is the new album’s centre piece; an expansive, explosive, spine-tingling belter and follows the radio favourites You Don’t Know Love and Grow Up which Olly recently performed on the X Factor.

Thursday 3rd August - Madness

Music fans will get the chance to go One Step Beyond next summer as Madness are heading to Scarborough Open Air Theatre. The British pop icons, who have been thrilling audiences for four decades, will headline Europe’s largest open air theatre on Thursday August 3, 2017.

2016 has been a truly sensational year for Madness as they followed up a phenomenal summer appearance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage with the release of their 11th studio album – the critically acclaimed Can't Touch Us Now. Featuring the hit single Mr Apples, it instantly went Top 5 on its release in October.

Saturday 5th August - Pop Legends

Pop superstars The Human League, Midge Ure and Technotronic are all heading to Scarborough Open Air Theatre for a night of chart-topping classics. They join Brit Award winner Betty Boo, Johnny Hates Jazz and Living in a Box featuring Kenny Thomas for a special 80s v 90s night at Europe’s largest open air theatre on Saturday August 5 2017.

This amazing line-up has racked up no fewer than 25 UK Top 10 singles between them and can boast a string of truly global hits.

Friday 11th August - Jess Glynne

One of the UK’s hottest stars JESS GLYNNE will be Right Here at Scarborough Open Air Theatre in 2017. Smashing her way into the nation’s consciousness as the vocalist on Clean Bandit’s 2014 Grammy Award-winning Number 1 hit Rather Be, Jess has since become one of the biggest UK breakthrough acts of recent years.

The North London-born singer is one of only two British female solo artists to have five consecutive UK number one singles. Her chart-topping debut album, I Cry When I Laugh – which includes the singles Right Here, Hold My Hand, Don't Be So Hard on Yourself and Take Me Home – turned double platinum in the UK, making it the biggest selling debut album of 2015.
