Looking for things to do in Yorkshire with the children this week? Yorkshire’s racecourses have you covered! Across all of Yorkshire’s nine racecourses, accompanied children under 18 are admitted FREE!

Kick off the week with the Zetland Gold Cup Family Day at Redcar Racecourse on Bank Holiday Monday. In addition to seven thrilling races, there’s FREE entertainment for the kids, including bouncy castles, face painters, and entertainers.

A group of riders participating in the Macmillan Charity Race at York next month will also be present, practicing on an equisizer. You might even catch a demonstration from one of the professional jockeys!

Admission for adults into the course enclosure at Redcar is £7 in advance or £8 on the day, and £17 in advance for the Grandstand Enclosure, or £18 on the day. Concessions are available for those over 65 and students. Car parking is free. Buy tickets here.

The fun continues in East Yorkshire on Wednesday, May 29th, at Beverley Racecourse’s Family Fun Raceday. Children’s entertainment includes face painting, a Sumo challenge with inflatable mats and outfits, and Gallagher’s Funfair rides and stalls. The rides are free, but there is a small charge for the stalls.

New for 2024, Pony Parties will offer pony-based entertainment, including games and races in horse costumes. Beverley Racecourse’s resident brass band, Beverley Brass Band, will perform on top of the Touch Above Bar.

Seven races are scheduled at Beverley, with admission starting from £7 in the Course Enclosure. Grandstand & Paddock admission is £16, or £13 for concessions, and Premier Admission is £25. Save up to 20% by booking in advance. Buy tickets here.

On Thursday, May 30th, head to Ripon Racecourse for more family fun, featuring a bouncy castle, face painting, glitter tattoos, and balloon modeling.

Advance adult Course admission is £7, with car admission at £20 (for up to four adults per car). Advance Paddock admission is £17.50, reduced to £12.50 for those aged 60 and over. Advance Club admission is £27. Children under 18 are admitted free in all enclosures.

Looking ahead to Father’s Day, don’t miss out on the fun in Yorkshire. On June 16th, Thirsk Racecourse hosts their first Sky Bet Sunday Series meeting, a Premier Raceday. The Flat Cap Brass Band will provide live music, and the permanent playground, bouncy castles, slides, assault courses, face painting, balloon modeling, penalty shootouts, and derby hoppers will keep the kids entertained.

Seven races are scheduled, plus The Sky Bet Graham Lee Stable Staff Charity Race at 3 pm. Advance admission is £15 and £12 for over 65’s. A family ticket for two adults and up to four children is £25. Buy tickets here.

Also on Father’s Day, Doncaster Racecourse is preparing for Superhero and Princesses Family Fun Day. There’s a kids disco, magician, stilt walkers, jugglers, balloon displays, a Punch & Judy show, and coloring stations.

Funfair rides are available for a fee, and there will be a treasure hunt around the racecourse. The day features seven races plus a Shetland Pony race!
