Visit Keelham Farm Shop in Bradford for a fantastic range of local, fresh, great tasting food. With their own award-winning butchery on-site, it’s the perfect place to pick up some of the very best locally sourced meat and poultry.
Head to Campbells of Leyburn for the finest local rare breed meats and a well-stocked delicatessen including an exciting selection of artisan and continental cheeses. Of course when it comes to cheese, Yorkshire is home to some fantastic local varieties including Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese, Shepherds Purse and Swaledale Cheese – the perfect excuse for an extensive cheeseboard or something extra decadent to top a burger straight from the grill. Choose from a delicious selection of pies at Toppings Pies, including traditional pork pies as well as some more daring flavours.
WASH IT ALL DOWN
After sampling some delicious treats, what could be better than a refreshing glass of something cool? Head to Bier Huis in Wakefield and discover all manner of real ale and craft beers in their fully stocked shop. The Jug and Bottle in Bubwith near York has a vast array of bottled beer, cider and perry from around the World as well as over 300 wines, champagnes, ports and spirits. Yorkshire is fast becoming one of the country’s top gin destinations with fantastic local producers such as Slingsby Gin, Whitakers Gin and Masons Gin each concocting and distilling some exceptional spirits, perfect paired with some tonic for a refreshing tipple on a sunny afternoon. If you really want to make an afternoon of it, why not finish with a taste of Sloemotion sloe gin or Brontë Liqueur too!
Pick up something deliciously decadent from Sheffield’s Tipple Tails at stockists across the country or from their online shop. Their delicious cakes are bursting with fruit and nuts and laced with award-winning, locally-made liqueurs for an extra special kick. The Vanessa Delicatessen and & Café in Beverley have all manner of yummy sweet treats available in their fantastically well stocked deli including tarts, cakes and tray bakes. For serious chocolate fans, The Curious Table, in Easingwold are famous for their spectacularly indulgent brownies, the perfect end for any meal. Lottie Shaw’s bakery in Elland have been proud bakers for more than a hundred years producing authentic, traditional, delicious Yorkshire baked goods. Of course, when it comes to Yorkshire sweet treats, Betty’s is a Yorkshire institution and famous when it comes to puddings. From fat rascals, to dainty macarons and delicious loaf cakes to handmade fondant fancies, they have the perfect sweet treat for everyone.
