What is the LNER Song for Yorkshire?
It is a song writing and singing competition to celebrate everything we know and love about Yorkshire.

A video recording of no longer than 4 minutes in length. If filmed on your mobile phone, please record in landscape mode.
Do you accept songs sung in Sign Language?

Go to yorkshire.com/song and complete the online application form, then send your performance to LNER Song for Yorkshire, Welcome to Yorkshire, Dry Sand Foundry, Foundry Square, Leeds, LS11 5DFL. Or email them via a drop box or WeTransfer link to firstname.lastname@example.org
Who can enter?
Anyone, all aspiring singers and song writers are welcome to enter.
Are there any age restrictions?
No, the competition is open to all ages. If you are under 18 years old, you must obtain the consent of a parent(s) or legal guardian(s) and enter their details as provided in the application form.
Can groups enter?
Yes, both individuals and/or groups can enter the competition. It could be your school band, your local choir, work colleagues, a group from brownies, scouts, uni mates or just you, on your own. Applications made on behalf of a group must have the consent of all members of the group before applying.
Can I enter from outside of the UK?
How many songs can I enter?
There is no limit to the number of songs you may enter into the competition.
When is the closing date?
Entrants have until 13 November 2020 to submit their song.
How many winners will there be?
There will only be one winner, there will be no prizes for finalists? All entrants will be emailed a certificate for their entry.

How will you decide a winner?
Entries will be shortlisted by a panel of specialist judges from the music and media industry, before the final songs are put to a public vote to decide who will be crowned the LNER Song for Yorkshire winner 2020.
Who are the judges?
How will the entries be judged?
The LNER Song for Yorkshire will be judged based on the song and its composition (Song, lyrics, music and melody). The vocal quality will however be taken into consideration but will not be the key decision-making factor.
Do the judges listen to all the entries, or is there a screening process?
There is a screening committee that listens to all entries and selects a shortlist which are then sent to the judges to select the finalists. The screening process is carefully and respectfully implemented with the goal of selecting the best songs to send on to the judges.
How will the public vote?
The public will be able to vote online www.yorkshire.com/song

Who is organising the competition?
The competition is organised by Welcome to Yorkshire.
Who is the official sponsor of the competition?
Will the LNER Song for Yorkshire notify entrants that their entry has been received?
WTY will send out an email to all entrants notifying them that their entry has been received. However, as you know, email is not always 100% reliable, and sometimes it is not received. This can happen for a variety of reasons: the email might be filtered out by a spam program (so check your junk mailbox), your server might be down etc. If your email address changes, please be sure to notify us, as email is the primary method the LNER Song for Yorkshire uses to communicate with entrants. If you do not receive any notification from the LNER Song for Yorkshire within a few weeks of sending out your entry please resend your entry.
How and when will the finalists and winner be notified?
All entrants will receive notification of the finalists and winner via email. Finalists and the winner will be emailed and/or phoned. If you do not receive an email, please check the website for updated information. LNER Song for Yorkshire finalists and winners will be announced in December 2020.
Does the LNER Song for Yorkshire give feedback?
We do not give feedback or a critique to entrants.
What kind of music can I enter?
You may enter any kind of music from opera to, classical, pop, rock, rap, dance or even folk.
Does the LNER Song for Yorkshire own my song once I have entered it?
No, the entrant retains ALL rights to the songs.
