The Dovecote Barns York

Stayed here for the Halloween half term break and we absolutely loved it! The hosts had added some spooky decorations (which our children loved) which was a lovely touch and we enjoyed a wonderful getaway with friends and family- it was just what we needed! The place is stunning, it certainly has the WOW factor for sure, with every detail so well thought out. It really is a beautiful and not far from York, which we visited almost every day whilst there (Bettys tearooms is an absolute must!!!). I would definitely recommend staying here, it will not disappoint!

We’ve been coming to Dovecote Barns near York as a family for over 16 years now, and it’s honestly one of our favourite places in the country. From the moment you arrive, you’re made to feel so genuinely welcome — nothing is ever too much trouble, and the hosts always make sure everything is perfect for your stay. The barns themselves are beautiful — spotlessly clean, really comfortable, and so well-equipped. You can tell a lot of thought and care goes into every detail. It’s the ideal place to relax, spend time together, and just switch off. The location is brilliant too — peaceful countryside all around, but only a short drive into York if you want to explore the city or grab a nice meal out. We’ve done everything from family celebrations to quiet weekends here, and it always feels special. It’s also great value for money for the quality and comfort you get. Every time we leave, we’re already planning our next visit!

This place really is a gem. We had our wedding celebration at the Dove Cote Barns and what can I say, from the very first visit to our special day. This place doesn’t make you feel like a customer, they make you feel like family. Nothing was too much trouble, everything and everyone was accommodated perfectly. We stayed for a long weekend in August and had such a lovely time! The accommodation is beautiful with lots of really thoughtful details, and my 10-year old nephew especially loved the games room with pool table! Brigita was really friendly and helpful, we'd definitely stay again.

We stayed at Dovecote Barn for a wedding - it is a beautiful setting and great for a family gathering. Bridget was really welcoming and helpful. You can catch the bus directly into York which is a great place to visit. The cottage was really well equipped with lots of homely touches. Great place to stay to visit York or full a family get together.
