The Yorkshire Grand Départ 2014 saw the first two stages of the Tour de France take place in Yorkshire, with great success. It was arguably the best Grand Départ which has happened in Tour de France history, and saw millions of people lining the streets up and down Yorkshire, as the peloton passed through some of the most impressive countryside in the World.
Crowds stood 5-deep in Yorkshire’s market towns as the lead riders, the police, the peloton and the support vehicles flashed through pretty towns and villages, as well as passing by deeply rural scenes through the Yorkshire Dales, the North York Moors, and taking in several of Yorkshire’s fine cities.
