A really comfortable nice stay. Really nicely built kitchen and facilities and great security with very modern doors that lock automatically upon entering. Very clean toilets with nice showers. The bed is amazing to sleep on and you have plenty of room at least in a room with a double bed which I booked for anything. Very quiet at night in the room which meant no disturbed sleep. Overall very nice place and construction does not impact anything at all. If anything it’s just an aesthetic
I personally had a lovely experience, I was skeptical going in because of the reviews but I needed a cheap place to stay over for a concert. However, when I checked in to the hostel I was pleasantly surprised. Yes there is building works going on but it really doesn't interfere with the stay, honestly the service was really nice and the room was so clean and tidy, even had a desk and a mirror which I appreciated so I could do my makeup. The shared bathrooms are also really clean, along with the shared kitchen. It is obvious a lot of effort has been put into the place. The only downside for me is that the toilets are upstairs which isn't ideal but it didn't impact my stay much, it can just be inconvenient at times. The room was comfy and it was very quiet in the night, a bit of noise in the morning but nothing too disturbing. Overall, definitely worth the money and I will come back to stay here again when I go to another concert. I recommend if you aren't too picky and are wanting a comfortable, affordable stay in the centre of Leeds.
Yes the building is still under construction, there aren't any lockers to securely place belongings and the beds aren't the most comfortable in the world, personally I found that my bed sheet wasn't large enough for the bed and so would come loose during the night. Those are the negatives. Management was very friendly, and the building is in an excellent location being less that five minutes from the station for weary travellers and being effectively right in the middle of city centre for a fairly reasonable price. I do think the price COULD be cheaper especially with the way the facility is at the moment and with those other negatives I mentioned I couldn't possibly rate this over a 3/5 but I hope that given more time the place will realise it's potential and become a great place for backpackers, workers and others
My best advice for this hostel is DO NOT BOOK IT. Do NOT book it. We had a booking half a year ago through booking.com, and the hostel owner told us that the original site (the address provided) was under construction and he said he would provide accommodation at another place (which is this one on King Street). There was nothing outside and when we went inside, there was a strong smell of paint and you clearly knew it was still under construction. The toilet was upstairs and unfinished, with wires exposed from the ceiling. The room was also horrible, with no curtains at the time and smelt horrible too, and barely any furnishing. The sound proof was equally bad. We asked the owner there (who claimed he was not the owner) if we could have a refund and his attitute was hesitant and weird. In the next morning he agreed to a partial refund and we left this horrible place, but after months we did NOT receive the partial refund and Booking.com could do nothing about it--they abandoned the original account of the hostel and created a new one--R S Hostels! This way they could have a new start (to leave behind those negative reviews), but clearly they failed. It is very shameful to operate a hostel like this. From other reviews here, this hostel was still under construction, which is very very ridiculous. They do not have any ethics, and keep letting people stay instead of finishing their work first. Again, do NOT book this hostel. They shouldn't profit from this.
I booked a private room at RS Hostel in Leeds in September but the place was still a building site. There was a workman coming through a plastic sheet near the bathroom, wires falling from the ceiling and no sign outside the front door, although the floor with the bedrooms seemed in a better state. The staff member was friendly but I felt unsafe staying the night and so left. I hoped Lastminute.com would help but they did not find me alternative accommodation and both the hostel and Lastminute.com later refused to refund my booking. I emailed the hostel directly but received no reply. I hope the hostel is now fixed up and ready to go, but visit first (if you can) to check.
