A care home might not be the first place you’d expect to find a fitness challenge, but the team at Ebor Court Care Home in York proved that determination (and a stationary bike) can go a long way. Over the course of eight hours, staff members and the families of residents took turns pedalling in a stationary bike challenge, raising an impressive £300 for Children with Cancer UK.
A community effort on two wheels
The challenge wasn’t about speed or distance—it was about teamwork. Each participant cycled for a portion of the event, passing the baton (well, the bike seat) to the next in line. The energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved made it clear that this was more than just a fundraiser; it was a chance to come together for a cause that touches many lives.
Yvonne Penrose, Home Manager at Ebor Court, shared her pride in the effort:
“We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part in the challenge. It was a truly heartwarming event, and we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout from both our staff and residents’ families.”
