The magic of Disney’s Aladdin is set to enchant Bradford audiences this August, as the acclaimed Broadway and West End musical embarks on its first-ever UK and Ireland tour.

Under the direction of Thomas Schumacher, Disney Theatrical Productions will bring this beloved show to the Alhambra Theatre from August 14th to September 1st, 2024.

A Magical Cast and Crew

The UK and Ireland tour of Disney’s Aladdin features an impressive cast, led by Yeukayi Ushe as Genie. Ushe, known for his performances in Disney’s The Lion King, A Strange Loop, and Kinky Boots, brings a new dimension to the iconic character. Gavin Adams, a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, makes his professional debut as Aladdin.

The role of Jasmine will be played by Desmonda Cathabel, also a Royal Academy of Music alumna, known for her roles in Miss Saigon and From Here to Eternity.

Other notable cast members include:

  • Adam Strong as Jafar (Rock of Ages, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat)
  • Jo Servi as Sultan (Dreamgirls, The Color Purple)
  • Angelo Paragoso as Iago (The Reporter, Miss Saigon)
  • Nay-Nay as Babkak (Once On This Island)
  • Adam Taylor as Omar (Cabaret, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie)
  • Nelson Bettencourt as Kassim (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Les Misérables)

The ensemble features a talented group of performers including Hannah Amin, Dammi Aregbeshola, Rico Bakker, and many more.

A Show of Spectacle and Wonder

Adapted from Disney’s 1992 animated film and centuries-old folktales from “One Thousand and One Nights,” Aladdin brings a timeless story to life with new songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Chad Beguelin.

Directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, this production is designed by a team of Tony® Award winners including Bob Crowley (scenic design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), Gregg Barnes (costume design), and Ken Travis (sound design).

The production also features:

Yeukayi Ushe, who plays Genie, shared his enthusiasm:

Now I get to take that brilliant, bold, and beloved Genie envisaged by such brilliant creators and bring him to life in this spectacular, all singing, all dancing live stage version, going on UK tour for the first time.”

Gavin Adams, debuting as Aladdin, added,
