Carlton Towers is reintroducing its half-day Beekeeping Experience courses this summer, responding to popular demand. These workshops, designed to be both enjoyable and educational, are set to take place within the picturesque parkland estate of Carlton Towers. Local Yorkshire apiarists, MI Honey, are collaborating with the estate to offer participants a unique opportunity to learn about the significance of beekeeping and its environmental impact.

Beekeeping Workshops at Carlton Towers
Starting in June, the Beekeeping Experience courses provide participants with the chance to don bee suits and get an up-close look at bee hives. These workshops are designed to educate attendees on the importance of bees, the structure of hives, and the crucial role beekeepers play in maintaining healthy bee populations.
Cristina from MI Honey, a local honey producer, leads the courses. The sessions begin with an introductory talk, accompanied by light refreshments, where Cristina explains the essentials of beekeeping and the reasons behind maintaining bees on the Carlton Towers estate in Selby. Following the talk, participants will visit the estate’s beehives for a hands-on, interactive demonstration. All necessary bee suits and equipment are provided for participants.
Workshop Schedule and Details
The Beekeeping Experience courses are scheduled on several dates throughout the summer, starting on Saturday, June 29, continuing on Sunday, July 14, and Friday, August 23. Each course runs from 10 AM to 2 PM, offering a comprehensive introduction to beekeeping within this timeframe.
To complete the experience, participants will enjoy a delicious light lunch platter with refreshments in the Old Servants Quarter Cooks Kitchen.
