On Saturday, 29 June, Pontefract Park will come alive with the sights and sounds of Wakefield Armed Forces Day 2024. This annual event honors the contributions of both serving and veteran members of the armed forces, as well as the broader armed forces community.

Wakefield Armed Forces Day is a free, family-friendly event running from 10am to 4:30pm, designed to celebrate and acknowledge the dedication and sacrifices of military personnel. The day is packed with engaging activities and displays that highlight the skills and bravery of the armed forces.
Exciting Activities and Displays
The event will feature a variety of activities, including a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast, showcasing a piece of history with a nod to the valor of past service members. Military displays and performances will take place in the arena, providing an up-close look at the capabilities and traditions of the armed forces.
