•In an incredible display of endurance and determination, Martin Mansell, the CEO of EnjoyTravel.com, has set a new world record by cycling around the entire perimeter of England. This remarkable journey, which covered a staggering 2,007 miles, was completed in just 11 days, 20 hours, and 57 minutes. Mansell crossed the finish line at the Humber Bridge at 01:12 on 7 July, after pushing his limits to the extreme.
Epic Challenge Overview
Starting his adventure on 25 June, Mansell embarked on a solo cycling challenge that required him to ride an average of 169 miles each day. This included tackling a variety of terrains, from scenic coastlines to bustling urban areas. One particularly gruelling day saw him spend an astonishing 23 hours cycling, demonstrating the sheer physical and mental strain of the challenge.
The route took him past many iconic landmarks, including:
The East Coast
Dover
Land’s End
The Severn Bridge
Chester
Carlisle
Ultimately, he returned to Yorkshire, completing the full loop and achieving his goal.
Official Sanction and Support
The World UltraCycling Association (WUCA), the official body that certifies endurance cycling records, sanctioned Mansell's attempt. He spent upwards of 16 hours on the road each day, with minimal rest, showcasing his extraordinary stamina and commitment.
Mansell expressed the challenges he faced during the final stages of his journey, stating:
“I’m feeling absolutely shattered. The final 48 hours were brutal... Everything in my body was in pain - feet, toes, ankles, hands, wrists.”
Despite the pain and fatigue, he was relieved to finish and thrilled to have raised significant funds for charity.
Fundraising Success
Through this challenging endeavour, Mansell has successfully raised a total of £81,000 across three separate challenges over the past three years. The funds are being directed to two important Yorkshire charities:
Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease - This charity provides expert care, research, and support for individuals living with motor neurone disease (MND).
Yorkshire Children’s Charity - This organisation supports children facing disabilities and hardships, providing essential equipment and emergency resources.
To aid in his fundraising efforts, various initiatives were launched, including a public sweepstake allowing supporters to predict his finishing time, alongside other prize-led activities and events supported by local businesses.

A Grateful Heart
Mansell credited his support team for helping him push through the toughest moments of the challenge:
