Raworths Children’s Festival is back this year on October 19th & 20th as part of the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival.

There’s a whole host of fun and imaginative activities for children of all ages. Artistic workshops, sensory storytelling, interactive book trails – this year’s festival is not to be missed for families in Harrogate and beyond.

Creativity and fun for kids

Taking place at The Crown Hotel, Harrogate, there’s something for everyone. One of the highlights is a drawing session with the popular children’s illustrator Rob Biddulph who is back by popular demand. Best known for his “Draw With Rob” series, Biddulph will be introducing his new picture book I Follow the Fox and leading a fun interactive draw-along session.

Family life with Dr Amir Khan

New to the festival is Dr Amir Khan, award-winning TV GP and bestselling author. He’ll be presenting his illustrated children’s book How Families Are Made which explores modern family life in a way that’s engaging and easy to understand. This event will help children understand that families come in all shapes and sizes.

Sensory storytelling for all

The festival is also inclusive with Liam Callaghan, children’s book illustrator, leading a sensory storytelling session. His story The Neighbours Upstairs will be brought to life in a space designed to engage all the senses with sensory gadgets for a fully immersive experience. This event is especially welcoming to children with special educational needs (SEN) a safe and fun space to explore and imagine.

Raworths Book Trail: In the Pinewoods

Back by popular demand the Raworths Book Trail will run throughout October and November in Harrogate’s Pinewoods. This free family friendly challenge will see you finding 10 hidden signs each with a riddle inspired by classic children’s books. Complete the trail and you could win fantastic prizes and extend the festival fun beyond the weekend.
