Two of Scotland’s most celebrated rock bands, Simple Minds and Texas, are set to headline next summer’s TK Maxx Presents Live at The Piece Hall in Halifax. Known for their extensive contributions to the music industry, these iconic acts will take centre stage in July 2025, with Simple Minds performing on Monday, July 7, and Texas on Friday, July 25.
Simple Minds to take the stage
Simple Minds, hailed as one of the most successful British bands of all time, will make their debut appearance at The Piece Hall. The Glasgow-born band, known for hits like Don’t You Forget About Me and Alive and Kicking, has sold over 60 million records worldwide. Their signature sound and timeless anthems have captivated audiences globally, and demand for their live performances continues to grow.
Over the years, Simple Minds has consistently delivered powerful live shows, praised for their energetic performances. Fans can expect a setlist filled with classic tracks such as Promised You a Miracle, Glittering Prize, and Someone Somewhere in Summertime. The band’s current lineup features founding members Jim Kerr (vocals) and Charlie Burchill (guitar), alongside Gordy Goudie, Ged Grimes, Cherisse Osei, and Sarah Brown. Recent addition Erik Ljunggren on keyboards has also added to the group’s evolving sound.
Their most recent albums, including Big Music (2015) and Direction of the Heart (2022), have further cemented their status, with the latter achieving a top-five spot on the UK charts. After performing across major arenas, their Piece Hall debut is highly anticipated.
Texas to bring their classic hits
Fronted by the charismatic Sharleen Spiteri, Texas will bring their own blend of rock and pop to Halifax. The band, which has sold over 40 million albums globally, has been a mainstay in the industry for nearly 40 years. Their iconic single I Don’t Want A Lover, along with more contemporary hits like Mr Haze and Keep on Talking, will be part of their repertoire at The Piece Hall.
Texas’ longevity in the music industry is a testament to their ability to consistently produce hit after hit. Fan favourites such as Say What You Want, Summer Son, and Inner Smile remain as popular as ever and are sure to be highlights of their live performance.
Piece Hall: A growing music hub

These performances are part of a growing legacy for The Piece Hall, which continues to establish itself as one of the UK’s premier live music venues. Over the summer of 2024, The Piece Hall hosted 34 concerts, drawing in over 180,000 fans to its historic courtyard. Recent performances have included acts like Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Blondie, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, and Tom Jones, further solidifying its reputation as a destination for music lovers.
In 2025, alongside Simple Minds and Texas, Irish pop-rock band The Script will also headline the summer series. Their performance on July 6 will kick off what promises to be another unforgettable season at The Piece Hall.
The Piece Hall: A cultural gem
The Piece Hall in Halifax is a Grade I listed building, originally constructed in 1779 as a trading hall for cloth merchants. It is the last remaining Georgian cloth hall in the world, and its vast open-air courtyard has become a renowned setting for major live events. Since its re-opening in 2017, the venue has welcomed over 16 million visitors and now hosts a year-round programme of cultural, musical, and sporting events.
