York City have confirmed the signing of experienced defender Mark Kitching, who joins the Minstermen on a permanent deal from Oldham Athletic.
Kitching, 29, becomes the club’s fourth addition of the summer as City continue to strengthen ahead of the new season.

Starting his career at Championship side Middlesbrough, Kitching first arrived in York on loan during the 2015/16 season. After loan spells with Rochdale, he joined the Dale permanently, playing a key role in helping them avoid relegation from League One.
He then enjoyed two solid seasons with Hartlepool United, making over 75 appearances, before moving to Stockport County in 2020. There, he celebrated his first promotion from the National League when Stockport clinched the title in 2022.
Following that success, Kitching signed with Oldham Athletic, where he clocked up over 100 appearances and added another promotion to his record, this time via the play-offs.
He now returns to York as a proven performer with valuable experience across the EFL and National League levels, ready to bolster the defence for the season ahead.
York City said they are delighted to welcome him back to the LNER Community Stadium, subject to league and FA approval.
