It was with deep sadness that Welcome to Yorkshire reflects on the passing of cyclist Brian Robinson, who has died at the age of 91.
Robin Scott, MD of Welcome to Yorkshire commented:
“Brian Robinson was the first British cyclist to win a stage at the Tour de France, and a trailblazer for the sport of cycling in Yorkshire and the wider UK. He’ll be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Brian’s friends and family at this sad time.
“Brian was a proud supporter of cycling in Yorkshire. Everyone I’ve spoken to tells how tremendously supportive he was of the 2014 Grand Depart and Tour de Yorkshire events.”
“He set a great standard for all of us to aim for and leaves behind a terrific legacy of success.”
