In an inspiring call to action, Yorkshire businesses and entrepreneurs are invited to discover their inner hero by participating in a major fundraising initiative aimed at supporting the historic Wentworth Woodhouse.

The Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, dedicated to the revival of this magnificent Grade I listed mansion, seeks to engage 100 heroic fundraisers to each raise £1,000 by November, contributing to a collective goal of £100,000.

Community and Culture

Since acquiring Wentworth Woodhouse in 2017, the Preservation Trust has embarked on an ambitious journey to transform the stately home into a vibrant community asset and a catalyst for economic growth in South Yorkshire.

The mansion, affectionately known as the Big House, requires continuous funding to support a range of initiatives from educational programs and community activities to essential maintenance needs—like the £200 daily cost to keep its lights on.

Uniting Business and Heritage

Carole Foster, the trust’s Fundraising Manager, expressed gratitude towards the steadfast support from the local business community. The Big House Heroes campaign was kicked off with a corporate event on May 8 at the newly-restored Camellia House, successfully enlisting ten companies right away.

The trust now seeks to expand this network of support, encouraging more local businesses to get involved through creative fundraising activities such as firewalks, fashion shows, and skill-sharing workshops.

Celebrating Heroic Contributions

Those who meet their fundraising targets will enjoy a special celebration event hosted within the grandeur of Wentworth Woodhouse. The trust not only aims to meet its financial goals but also to foster enduring partnerships with local businesses, reinforcing the mansion’s role as a cultural hub with community at its core.

The heroes of this campaign are not just raising funds; they are investing in the future of a historic site that stands as a testament to cultural preservation and community solidarity in South Yorkshire.

Source of culture for years to come

Wentworth Woodhouse represents a significant chapter in European architectural history and serves as a powerful example of community-driven heritage conservation. By supporting the Big House Heroes campaign, local businesses and entrepreneurs can play a pivotal role in ensuring that this historic mansion continues to serve as a source of education, culture, and community engagement for years to come.
