On Yorkshire Day, Xscape Yorkshire is treating its visitors to a delightful and unique culinary experience inspired by the region’s famed Rhubarb Triangle. For one day only, guests can indulge in free samples of Rhubarb and Custard-flavoured popcorn, blending the tangy sweetness of rhubarb with the creamy richness of custard.
The specially crafted popcorn, a collaboration with gourmet popcorn makers Joe & Seph’s, will be available in 30g bags for a ‘pay-what-you-feel’ donation, with all proceeds going to the local charity Airedale Baby & Children’s Bank. The charity supports families by providing essential baby and children’s items, such as new underwear, socks, pyjamas, toiletries, nappies, and mattresses.

Celebrating Yorkshire’s Rhubarb Triangle
Xscape Yorkshire is situated near the renowned Rhubarb Triangle, a 9-square-mile area in Wakefield and its surroundings, famous for its production of forced rhubarb. This unique popcorn aims to highlight the region’s agricultural heritage while offering a nostalgic taste experience.
Visitors can sample the Rhubarb and Custard-flavoured popcorn on August 1st between 11am and 4pm. Suggested donations are £3 for a single bag or two bags for £5. The funds raised will support Airedale Baby & Children’s Bank in their mission to provide necessary items to local families in need.
Supporting Local Families with Every Purchase
Jason Warren, Centre Director at Xscape Yorkshire, expressed his excitement about the event:
“We’re very excited to provide a tasty opportunity for our guests to try our special Rhubarb and Custard-flavoured popcorn – inspired by our wonderful county. Our Yorkshire Day delight – only available here on 1 August – not only highlights the famous Forced Rhubarb grown in the region, but also allows us to give back to the community. Through our partnership with local charity Airedale Baby & Children’s Bank, we are helping raise funds to support local families with essential items for their children.”
Mel Jackson, Chair of Airedale Baby & Children’s Bank, highlighted the importance of community support:
“Our mission is to work closely with families within the community, providing vital clothing and toiletry packs for children and babies. We greatly appreciate all donations that support our cause. The people of Yorkshire are known for their overwhelming warmth and generosity, and there’s no doubt that the funds raised from the Rhubarb and Custard popcorn sales this Yorkshire Day will help make a difference to the lives of local families.”
