Reignite returns for its fourth event, aptly named ‘The Next Generation,’ set to take place at the end of this month. This exciting occasion will feature presentations from York graduates who have found success in global organisations, alongside a showcase of exceptional work from 60 graduating artists across Fine Art, Photography, and Illustration disciplines as part of the York St John University Degree Show.
Scheduled for Thursday, May 30th, from 5:30 to 9:00 PM, the event will be held at the Creative Centre, York St John University.
Reignite embodies an ambition to leverage York’s UNESCO Media Arts designation to attract investment, develop educational pathways, retain graduates, create more jobs, and quantify the sector’s economic impact on York’s wider economy.
The previous Reignite event focused on global stages and organizations exporting ideas worldwide. This time, the focus shifts to nurturing local talent, showcasing the new and emerging artists and professionals in York.
Supporting the Next Generation of Talent
Cherie Federico, Director of Aesthetica, emphasizes the importance of supporting new talent:
“We must champion the next generation of talent and show them that they have the support of the city. Reignite, alongside the Creative Business Skills Academy launching in June, sends a message that York is proud of and nurtures its new talent, recognizing the vast potential this has for the city as a whole.”
Guests will have the opportunity to hear from recent graduates who have secured positions at renowned organisations such as HarperCollins, Ravensburger, Lottie Shaw, Guinness, Adidas, Puma, and Pepsi. Additionally, there will be a panel featuring artists at the beginning of their careers. Discussions will also include information about York’s new Creative Business Skills Academy.
Event Highlights
Reignite IV aims to shine a light on York’s next generation of talent and their contributions to the future ecosystem of the city. Following the presentations, attendees can look forward to the Reignite Party, which includes Art Tours, a DJ, drinks, and networking opportunities with businesses from various sectors in the city.
This event is supported by Aesthetica, York St John University, City of York Council, UKSPF, York BID, and Viridian FX. As places are limited, it’s important to register for one of the sessions to secure a ticket. After the talks, guests are invited to the gardens for an evening of networking, drinks, and music.
