Hirds Family Fisheries in Calderdale has been named as one of the UK’s 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways 2025 – the only chippy in Calderdale to make the prestigious list.
It follows two rounds of mystery dining visits by leading trade publication Fry Magazine in which judges meticulously inspected aspects including food quality, premises cleanliness, staff expertise, value for money, ease of ordering, and social media presence.
With the pass mark set high at 96%, Hirds Family Fisheries scored an impressive 96% with the mystery diner particularly praising the extensive menu with a big choice of gluten free items, I received my order quickly even though it was fried to order. Additional high praise included, “the Haddock was moist and flaky, free from grease” and the chips were cooked perfectly golden with a soft fluffy interior texture”and “super friendly and professional service”
