Northallerton Market

Enjoyed browsing around this busy outdoor market, located on both sides of the High Street. Came here on a Wednesday, and found a good mix of stalls selling a wide range of everyday essentials, from vacuum cleaners, phone accessories and household linens to ladies and gents clothing and footwear. Some lovely woollen and tweed caps, scarves, gloves and throws, and sheepskin rugs. The fruit and veg looked very fresh, and there were also baked goods and a fish stall. Traders were very friendly, and there were plenty of bargains to be found. Bought some good quality oven gloves at one of the stalls. There are nice shops, arcades and eateries all around the market area, clean new public toilets in the nearby Town Hall, and a large pay and display car park only a couple of minutes walk away.

I think that this is now probably my favourite market -it’s how I remember markets with so many stalls, lots of variety and down both sides of the High Street. I think there was something for everyone: fresh fruit and veg, discounted food stalls, outerwear stalls, ladies jumpers and trousers, fresh fish and meat and cheese…. It’s obviously very popular with the locals as there were lots of shoppers when I visited the market on Saturday. I believe there is also a midweek market but don’t know if it’s the same stalls or something different.

Wide variety of stalls. Fantastic fruit and veg. Carrack’s fish stall is second to none. There is also a refill stall for household products such as shampoo/conditioner, hand and body wash etc. Highly recommended
