The Golden Lion Hotel

Popped in for lunch whilst shopping in Northallerton on a cold, damp Thursday in January. Very welcoming, comfortable and warm....and quite busy. Not cordon bleu offering, but the menu was varied and well priced. Thoroughly enjoyed my Haggis, Neeps and Tatties with a Whisky Sauce.

Terrific value for money. The rooms are very dated but clean and warm. We found the staff to be very friendly and the receptionist very welcoming even ensuring that we were given the room with the sea view, balcony and jacuzzi 😉. The food was very good too. Just one niggle, what industrial product do they clean the tables with? Everything sticks to the surface and feels horribly sticky. Will definitely go back.

Stayed here on a Saturday night special offer. Fantastic value for money. Yes the rooms are a bit dated but was very clean. Staff were very lovely, especially the lady on reception for the hotel. Sorry we didn't catch her name. Will definitely be back x

I have visited this place for years my mother is in a wheelchair chair and after buying our dinner which we have done for years we were accused of not paying I had paid and even checked that the payment had gone through. We were given another bill which was not ours I asked the boy to search in the machine for transaction he couldn’t find it he insisted three times that we had not pay ed so I asked him to search for our card details he found the transaction we had paid and he had over charged us this was extremely stressful as this took me insisting we had paid at least three times and it was my suggestion to search for our card details then some of the other customers butted in saying it wasn’t his fault I was firm and again told them it was nothing to do with them the who thing was handled extremely Badly by the staff and manger who was not apologetic at all he was angry at us he gave us the money he owed us back I was extremely upsets so was my mum the young boy whom served us was not only going to charge us TWICE but over charge us as well. We will not be visiting ever again CHECK YOUR Bill and GET a RECEIPT or even better go somewhere else

We had a family get together here yesterday and I can say I will definitely be back. The hotel in the inside and outside is lovely. I do love the glass topped well in the bar area. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff were so friendly and bubbly too. It all made a special day even better.
