Taking in some of South Yorkshire's gems, this route includes a mix of Trans Pennine Way, quiet roads and just a small section on busy B road and having to cross one A road. We would recommend this route for an average recreational rider who feel comfortable on the road network, and it also takes in parts of the 2016 and 2018 Tour de Yorkshire route as well as some stunning scenery and ability to visit two fantastic heritage locations with Cusworth Hall and Brodsworth Hall. You will also get views of Conisbrough Castle. There are a number of cafes and pubs along the route too.
For the start and finish locations we would recommend Cusworth Hall as it has plenty of car parking that is relatively cheap. If you follow the route clock wise it will pass through the following interesting locations which I have provided links to sites with detail.
Next stop would be Sprotbrough village with attractive centre by the church and a number of cafes and bar for a rest.
Next stop drop down the steep hill (be careful and turn right at the bridge to joining the Don Gorge and Trans Pennine trail, ride along the TPT and climb up the hill next to the Don viaduct
Conisbrough Viaduct was opened in 1906, having been built by Henry Lovatt ltd to carry trains over the gorge and River Don and connect lines from the Hull & Barnsley Railway and the Great Northern & Eastern Railway.
The viaduct is 1,584 feet (483 metres) long with 14 arches to the north and 7 to the south. It was constructed using 15 million bricks and carried the train track 116 feet (35 metres) above the river. It carried passenger trains until 1951, and finally closed in 1966. From the viaduct you can see Conisbrough Castle to your left, with views back along the gorge towards Doncaster on your right.
At the top take the right hand fork slightly bumpy past the quarry entrance towards Cadeby. At the cross roads turn left pass the cadeby inn and down the hill.

Climb up the hill and at the junction turn left towards Barnburgh on Doncaster Road in Barnburgh, turn right onto High street and follow 2016 and 2018 Tour de Yorkshire route up Hickleton hill
At the cross roads of the A635 cross over( be careful as very busy and fast road) follow red hill lane to Brodsworth potential to visit the Hall
