The Calder & Hebble Navigation passes through Brighouse as it runs for 21 miles from Wakefield to Sowerby Bridge. A canal is known as a ‘navigation’ when it parallels a river and shares part of the river’s waters, in this case the River Calder and the Hebble Brook. There’s a towpath all the way along the Navigation, making it a great flat walking and cycling route.
