Whether you’re up for discovering one of the long distance walking trails that cut across the AONB countryside, you’re looking for a short walking route to do with the family or you want to venture out and do some serious hiking or hill walking on open access land Nidderdale has a walking trail for everyone.
Nidderdale offers some of the finest opportunities for cycling in the UK. Many top cyclists train in the Yorkshire Dales with its quiet roads, great hill climbs and fantastic variety of scenery and trails. It’s no surprise that this area was at the heart of stage one of the Tour de France Grand Départ in 2014 and was part of the Tour de Yorkshire 2016 route. Horse riding in Nidderdale AONB is a great way to see the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and Nidderdale has plenty to offer - from beginners learning to ride and looking for riding lessons to experienced riders who want a longer trek in the Yorkshire Dales.
Nidderdale’s large areas of open moorland and small, remote villages mean that light pollution is minimal, and the night skies in the Yorkshire Dales are some of the darkest skies in England. Our dark skies offer a wonderful opportunity to sit back and gaze at the stars, and anyone can do it.
