Markets form a valuable part of Richmond heritage and are held throughout the year, both indoor in the market hall and outdoor in the market place. A traditional outdoor market is held every Saturday which is a main attraction for both visitors and local people as it offers a wide variety of goods ranging from local farm produce to crafts and toys. Every third Saturday of the month a farmers market is held in the market place and from Monday to Saturday Indoor markets take place selling a wide variety of goods. If you have a strong interest in arts and crafts then take a trip to Richmond's craft fairs on Sundays in the market hall, running from Easter through to Autumn.

The Showcase Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting new work from artists based in Yorkshire and the North East. The gallery has been born out of their heartfelt belief that art need not be elitist. Their commission rates and selling prices are kept as low as possible - and they aim to support artists by enabling them to showcase quality work, as one-offs or limited editions, and offer national exposure to those who may otherwise only be seen in the north.
Arthaus Gallery is located in Richmond North Yorkshire and is exclusive to Mackenzie Thorpe, selling originals, prints, bronzes and sculptures. They also have a selection of artistic cards and beautiful gift ware.
Lucy Pittaway has two dedicated Art Galleries, located in Brompton-on-Swale, North Yorkshire, with the second in Richmond historic town centre, North Yorkshire. Lucy uses soft pastels to create bright and uplifting artwork, with each piece having an underlying story and inspiration related to Lucy’s own life, family and surroundings up in the Yorkshire Dales.
