John's shop is amazing! I live in Australia and come over to the UK for holidays every few years. We always have John Gilbert's Antiques @ Robin Hood's Bay as a top priority on our itinerary and he never lets us down with the most interesting and wonderful pieces. I love browsing through John's shop and always leave with the most wonderful finds! I have been collecting antiques for thirty years now and John's Gilbert's Antiques is clearly my absolute favourite!
What a treasure!! You wouldn’t know there was a shop there but what a find. John is so calm and friendly and clearly very knowledgeable and modest with it too. We bought a little ebony snuff box and a wee wooden spoon. We will visit every time we go to Robin Hoods Bay. He does renovation work there too. A real treat.
Unexpected wonderful find in my walk down to the beach in RobinsHood Bay. Purchased an item and John was wonderful to work with in every way. He even took the piece and met me up the hill where we completed the transaction. Highly highly recommend great selection with very fair prices.
Fabulous shop. It is a treasure chest of items. Memories of a past time. Just glorious. The owner is lovely by nature, informative and it was a pleasure to chat to him.
We found this beautiful shop in the summer whilst on a road trip of the Yorkshire coast, it was definitely a highlight of our trip. Such beautiful items lovingly cared for and displayed. John was welcoming and his skills in restoration and knowledge were evident, not imposing but helpful. What lovely time spent in this gem on the Yorkshire coast, my beautiful carved wooden maiden now sits beautifully in our home Thank you
