Get ready for some serious rock and roll, because the American supergroup Hollywood Vampires are heading back to the UK. After nearly three years away, they're bringing their massive sound across the pond for a string of huge shows this summer, and they’ve got two very special outdoor dates lined up right here in Yorkshire. It’s the kind of news that makes you want to dig out your old band t-shirts and get ready for an unforgettable night of live music.

The vamps are back in town

So, what’s the big news? The legendary band, made up of rock icon Alice Cooper, actor and musician Johnny Depp, Aerosmith’s legendary guitarist Joe Perry, and producer Tommy Henriksen, is officially on the road again. This is their first tour in what feels like forever, and they're making a massive splash. For anyone in Yorkshire, there are two key dates for the diary. The band will be headlining two huge outdoor shows, promising an electric atmosphere under the summer sky.

First up, they're hitting the coast to play the TK Maxx Presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Saturday, August 15. This isn't their first time in Scarborough; they played a completely sold-out show at the same open air theatre back in 2023, so their return is a pretty big deal. A week later, on Saturday, August 22, the Hollywood Vampires will be taking over The Piece Hall in Halifax for another epic night of rock.

The band themselves are clearly buzzing to be back. They said: “After almost three years away, we’re finally coming back to tour the UK and Europe. We’re looking forward to incredible crowds, massive energy and more unforgettable nights. See you all soon!”

What's a supergroup anyway?

For anyone wondering, a supergroup is basically what happens when really famous musicians from other successful bands get together to form a new one. And Hollywood Vampires is one of the best around. They first got together about a decade ago, back in 2015. The whole idea started as a way to pay tribute to the great rock stars of the 70s who are no longer with us. The band is actually named after a famous drinking club Alice Cooper had in the 1970s, where his mates included people like John Lennon and Keith Moon.

So, their live shows are a brilliant mix of their own powerful songs and amazing covers of stone-cold classics. Think of it as the ultimate rock jukebox, played live by your heroes. At their gigs, you can expect to hear massive tunes from legends like The Who, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, and Motörhead, alongside some of the biggest hits from Alice Cooper's and Aerosmith's own back catalogues. It’s a huge celebration of everything that makes rock music great. There's even a documentary in the works about the band, which sounds pretty cool.

A legendary support act

As if seeing Hollywood Vampires wasn't enough, they’re bringing some incredible special guests along for the ride. At both the Scarborough and Halifax dates, the support act will be none other than The Damned. If you’re into punk or Goth-Rock, you’ll know this is a massive deal. The Damned are true icons of the British music scene, with a string of classic albums and hit singles to their name. They are even celebrating their 50th anniversary with a new tour and a tribute album dedicated to their founding guitarist, Brian James, which was released on Friday, January 23. Getting to see this legendary band on the same bill is a proper treat.

Yorkshire's epic summer of music

These two concerts are part of a massive summer of live music happening across Yorkshire. Both the Scarborough Open Air Theatre and The Piece Hall have pulled together some incredible line-ups. The shows are part of the TK Maxx Presents series, which also features sponsorship from Homesense. At the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, the Hollywood Vampires are joining a bill that includes Michael Bublé, Bastille, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, and James Taylor. It’s an amazing schedule for the coastal venue.

Julian Murray, who helps promote the Scarborough shows, said:

“Hollywood Vampires are rock royalty, and after their sell-out show here in 2023, we knew we had to bring them back. Their return to the Yorkshire coast promises a night of raw power, legendary anthems, and pure rock ’n’ roll energy. Scarborough fans are in for an unforgettable experience — this is one of the most exciting shows of the summer.”

Over at The Piece Hall in Halifax, the story is just as exciting. The Hollywood Vampires gig is one of 37 shows scheduled for the historic venue this summer, with acts like Paul Weller, the Sex Pistols, and McFLY also set to play. Nicky Chance-Thompson, the CEO of The Piece Hall Trust, is thrilled. She said:

“What a phenomenal night this will be as we welcome both rock and Hollywood royalty for this huge show, that will be the talk of the town and beyond! A lot of stars have graced the stage in this world class venue, but we’re talking true legends status here.”

How to get your hands on tickets

Tickets are expected to fly out for these gigs, so it’s best to be ready. They go on general sale at 10am next Friday and will be available from Ticketmaster and the official Hollywood Vampires website. After purchasing, you should receive a confirmation email with all the details for the theatre dates.

For any superfans out there, there will also be special VIP packages available. These are designed for people who want to get as close to the action as possible. A VIP package usually gets you things like early entry so you can get a prime spot at the front, merchandise signed by the whole band, and an exclusive laminate and lanyard. These are always available in very limited numbers, so you’ll need to be quick if you fancy the VIP treatment for these live music events.
