Pior to using JW Myers Memorial services we were let down by a local headstone mason in North Yorkshire who left us without a headstone and no contact or reason why he was unable to carry out his services. Heartbroken, angry and a feeling of "how could someone do this to the bereaved?" we found JW Myers Memorials Scarborough. Upon arrival into their shop on Falsgrave road, I was greeted by Marie who is a kind and understanding individual. Finally, I felt like someone in this industry of grief understood what I wanted and what I needed to do to honour my dad. We had a detailed conversation about: what type of stone, what shape of stone, what size of stone, what colour of stone. After this Marie walked us through the different beveling options and what type of flower place holder we would like. No detail was missed and during the appointment we did not feel rushed to make a decision at all, which I think is really important when making decsions honouring someone's life. After choosing the layout and the inscription on the headstone, JW Myers provide you with a digital mock up of the headstone in which you can alter the inscription at your leisure. Again, we were given so much time to decide what we wanted to say. Once we decided what we wanted to have on the headstone, contact was made throughout the shipping and making process. I never felt like I did not know what was happening and that was really important to me as we were let down previously. When we received the headstone, we received a phone call saying it had been put in place which was helpful. The craftmanship of the headstone is truly beautiful, particularly our family cat etching which completes the headstone. The cat image is life-like and attention to detail has been paid as his fur and whiskers look amazing. Inscription is clear and the stone is shiny. The headstone was placed correctly and upright.
