An action packed family day out celebrating the work of the many Emergency Services across the UK. Last year’d 999 Emergency Day was a huge success, with a diverse range of Emergency Services personnel all joining us to talk to visitors about their various roles and how they all work together. Join us again as even more of the regions emergency organisations all visit the Museum as we celebrate the great work they do. Normal Museum entrance applies.
The 2018 Allied Air Forces Memorial Day will celebrate not only the Centenary of the Royal Air Force, but also the unique relationship that Allied Air Forces have enjoyed throughout military conflicts across the years. Allied Air Forces Day grows in size and stature each year and with 2018 being the Centenary of the formation of the Royal Air Force, we are looking forward to an exciting day.

Today, women take on front line duties across all branches of the military, but it was not always this way. Our Women’s Services Day commemorates the contribution and sacrifice made by women across more than a century of conflict. Commencing around 1;30pm, the Parade will set off to march through the centre of the Museum to our unique and inspiring Women’s Memorial Garden, where a Wreath Laying Ceremony will take place. We hope you will join us in celebrating the modern inclusivity and diversity of our armed forces and commemorate 100 years of the official recognition of the role played by women in our armed services.
2018 will see the tenth anniversary of this annual vintage motorcycle get together here at the Museum. Join us and see motorcycles from the very earliest days of motorised transport setting out from the Museum for a day’s riding around the Yorkshire Wolds
A great day of family entertainment to celebrate the start of the School Summer Holidays. Join us for a day of celebration of Vintage propellor driven aircraft. Our collection of piston engined aircraft will all be running live throughout the day, plus we will all enjoy flypasts by the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Flight’s Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire.

Join us for this year’s Against The Odds weekend and experience life at RAF Elvington during World War Two. Our re-enactors will be here to explain what what life was like here for serving Halifax Bomber air crews as they fought to liberate occupied Europe.
