James Herriot is the pen name of renowned British veterinarian and author, James Alfred Wight OBE FRCVS. Born in Sunderland, Wight graduated from Glasgow Veterinary College in 1939, returning to England to become a veterinary surgeon in Yorkshire, where he practised for almost 50 years.best known for his series of books about his experiences as a country vet in Yorkshire. Born in Sunderland, Herriot moved to Thirsk in North Yorkshire in the 1940s to work as a vet, and it was here that he found inspiration for his beloved stories. His books have since become classics, and continue to be enjoyed by readers all over the world.
