Waterloo is a historic battle that took place in 1815, marking the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Although the battle itself did not take place in Yorkshire, the county played a significant role in the events leading up to it. Yorkshire was a major center for the textile industry, which provided much of the funding for the British army. In addition, many soldiers from Yorkshire fought in the battle, including the famous Duke of Wellington, who led the British forces to victory. Today, visitors can explore the many historic sites and museums in Yorkshire that commemorate this important event in British history.
