We called in for a quick drink on Remembrance Sunday and it was extremely busy with no spare tables, we had to sit with other people, but the upstairswas closed. It's been done up since we last called and its more bland with lots of TVs in every room and a few framed photographs on the walls instead of the local paintings that used to hang there. On the whole I'd say that it lacks personality and has become just like all the other modern generic pubs aimed at people who like to watch football or other sports when they go out. We didn't eat there so cannot comment on the food.
This former weatherspoons is well worth a visit. Good beer, good value no nonsense boozer. 👍
Was a weatherspoons and unfortunately it's not no longer. It's very busy always struggling to get a seat. It is huge so they could and definitely should open the other floors for more guests to call in and relax. Its very clean, warm with gorgeous open log fire. Quick service and near the amenities. Lovely place to pop by so I'd recommend
I was hesitating between 3 and 4* until the barman asked if I had a CAMRA card..thus I got a discount on Tordmorden brewery Eagles Crag. Very good. A large ex Spoons pub with a second upstairs room and small beer patio. Too many TV's everwhere. Seven of ten handpumps in use.
Ex Spoons pub but now considerably cleaner and warmer. Excellent range of real ales ales available and CAMRA discount is available. Only slight gripe, is they really do need to extend the gents toilets, no where near enough facilities for such a busy pub.
