Accommodation

Overview & description

Are you looking for the perfect base to explore the stunning Yorkshire Dales and Lake District?

Would you like to get away from it all and recharge your batteries in one of the most unspoiled areas of the UK?

Then Gold Award winning Lovely Seat at Swaledale House is the ideal choice at any time of year and makes a great base for walkers, fell-runners, cyclists, motorcyclists, artists, photographers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Lovely Seat Cottage was also featured in the Times 50 best winter weekends in the UK - October 2013!

With its peaceful and secluded hillside setting, there are breathtaking panoramic views of upper Swaledale as featured in ITV’s Britain’s Favourite View and The Dales programmes. The scenery is both beautiful and dramatic, featuring dry stone walls, barns, waterfalls and wildflower meadows. You may feel miles from anywhere, yet you’re conveniently close to pubs, shops, restaurants and visitor attractions.

Enjoy fantastic walking from the doorstep – the nearest walk to the property is the Kisdon Hill Circular, which is in the Ramblers’ top 50 walks in the UK. The Pennine Way and Coast-to-Coast footpaths pass close by and Great Shunner Fell provides a challenging ascent. Cyclists enjoy a network of byways and bridleways away from busy roads, including the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria Cycleways.

Or just relax, drink in the views and read a book. Pamper yourself in our luxury hot tub and infra-red sauna, and feel yourself unwind. There are no streetlights here so the skies are ink blue and the stars are dazzling. Imagine sitting in the hot tub with a glass of bubbly and gazing at the stars! We offer a booking system whereby guests can book exclusive use of the hot tub and sauna.

Enjoy peace, seclusion and tranquillity – just the gentle sounds of sheep and birdsong. Breathe in the fresh, pure air and feel yourself unwind.

There are two pubs/restaurants about a mile from Swaledale House and the famous Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in Britain is seven miles away. The pretty village of Muker, with its pub, tea rooms, shops and post office is within three miles.

The lovely market town of Hawes, offering a wide range of facilities and attractions, is only seven miles away, accessed via the 'Buttertubs' Pass with its glorious views.
