Karnten Barn in Askrigg is an absolute delight. Light pours into the elegant living room from the original arched barn door, now a window. It has one of the best views in the village of the flat topped hill of Addleborough, looking out across the south facing cottage garden which is a real suntrap for most of the year. The spacious dining kitchen has a beautiful red Aga (and separate electric cooker) and the stone flagged entrance hall is a good place to pause after a busy day enjoying yourselves in this beautiful national park or just to take time out with a newspaper or a good book.
Upstairs the three bedrooms are a treat and all have beautiful views of the open countryside around Askrigg. There is a spacious king size master bedroom, a large twin room and a cosy double room, all with luxury mattresses and co-ordinating bed linen.
There is a newly refurbished house bathroom upstairs and a wet room downstairs with a separate WC and coat store/drying room also downstairs.
Outside the lawned garden has prettily planted borders, a south facing patio with garden furniture and a separate stone built garden room. This will be loved by children as their escape from the main house or adults who want to chill out and enjoy the garden (or even work if you have to). There is private parking for up to 4 cars.
Karnten Barn is in an idyllic location on Silver Street in Askrigg. It is tucked away from it all in a small cluster of houses behind and away from the main village street, only yards away from open fields and plentiful walks but also from the village shops and pubs. Silver Street was originally called Pudding Lane-it was renamed for Queen Victoria’s Silver Jubilee in 1862 but Yorkshire folk have long memories so it is still called Pudding Lane as often as Silver Street.
This really is an elegant and relaxed cottage and the owners have put a lot of thought into preparing it so that you have a wonderful holiday-this is a very popular cottage with many return visitors and we can fully understand why-it is gorgeous.
