We enjoy a tranquil location in 24-acres of woodland, paddocks and lake, nestled between Leyburn, Richmond and Bedale. We welcome you with home-made cake and biscuits then relax in your spacious en-suite accommodation and guest conservatory. Our Yorkshire breakfast includes everything you’d expect plus home-made yoghurt, preserves and bread.
Choose king-size, super king-size, four-poster, or twin beds in our bed and breakfast or unwind in our four-star self-catering lodge whilst watching flat-screen televisions and using free Wi-Fi access. Our rooms offer ample space if you need a cot/additional bed for younger family members and all rooms have tea, coffee and hot-chocolate making facilities.
Elmfield Lodge is our self-catering accommodation. All on one level, with a large open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen, large shower-room and double bedroom, it offers the ideal haven for a short break or couple of weeks away. Guests in the Lodge can also enjoy a hearty breakfast at Elmfield House bed and breakfast, which is located in the same peaceful setting (by prior arrangement and at small additional cost).
Full English, vegetarian or continental breakfasts are served each morning in the private conservatory. In addition to traditional cooked breakfast options, we make our own bread and jam for toast and yoghurt to enjoy with cereal or fresh fruit salad.
There are excellent restaurants/pubs within 5 miles and we can make recommendations and book tables to suit. We can equally provide plates and cutlery if you prefer a take-away in the conservatory or to use the barbeque!
We overlook open fields, hills and woodland. We have a mixed flock of sheep including Ryelands and use the fleece to produce hand-made goods. Pheasants and woodpeckers feed at the bird-table, deer and hedgehogs visit and kingfishers dart round the lake.
In winter there is a large wood-burning stove to welcome you and in the summer there is a patio, wood and lake to enjoy on-site and cricket and quoits in local villages.
We are the ideal location for peaceful breaks exploring the Dales, business travellers, due to our proximity to the A1, and for larger groups celebrating family get-togethers, passing out parades etc. We also speak fluent French.
We are within easy reach of both the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks. Locally, you can enjoy the breweries in Masham, Betty’s teashop in Northallerton, the Wensleydale Creamery and Brymore ice-cream parlour. Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Bird of Prey Centre, Constable Burton gardens and Studley Royal deer park offer a more outdoors experience. Explore local history at Bolton, Richmond or Richard III’s Middleham Castle, the Green Howard’s Museum and the World of James Herriot. Ride the Wensleydale Railway, visit Richmond’s Georgian Theatre Royal or views Turner painted. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the races at Catterick, Ripon and Thirsk, the gallops at Middleham and golf at Catterick, Richmond, Akebar and Bedale. And if you want more adventure why not try the Forbidden Corner, Lightwater Valley or Brimham Rocks. Walking and cycling and your break away can be as gentle or challenging as you like!
