If you would like to hold an important and memorable event somewhere unique, abound with character and thoroughly English, Carlton Towers could be your ideal venue. And it might just be Yorkshire's best kept secret…
The historic property has belonged to the ancestors of the Duke of Norfolk since the Norman Conquest. Currently the family home to Lord and Lady Gerald Fitzalan Howard, it is the most complete house of its type to be found today and boasts original Victorian features including three grand Staterooms and a Minstrel’s Gallery.
The property comprises part of a larger 2000 acre estate which is quintessentially English. It offers the perfect retreat from the city whether it be for a wedding reception, important business meeting or large family gathering. Carlton Towers can offer guests the complete stately experience, and with recently redesigned 16 en suite beautiful and spacious bedrooms, can accommodate a large party overnight. Viewings are by appointment only and the venue is available all year round to hire out for weddings, social and corporate hospitality, large park events, special interest group visits and filming locations. It has accommodation available as part of midweek packages and private events.
Luxurious bedrooms are located in two separate wings of the house and two high towers; the Clock and the Baroness (the latter features the bridal suite). Each room is individually characterised by features including four poster beds, indulgent fabrics, extraordinary views and boundless character. The Nursery Wing houses the five oldest bedrooms including The Priest's Hiding Hole with its original underfloor hiding space. Catholic heritage infiltrates Carlton Towers and the house, despite its size, maintains a very homely feel.
The country house offers endless opportunities:
Enjoy your fairytale dream wedding at Carlton Towers with either a weekend or weekday ceremony for up to 200 guests or an 'Intimate' midweek wedding for up to 30 guests. Special offers are in place throughout the year for wedding bookings Monday - Thursday.
The shoot on Carlton Towers' estate is second to none and the venue prides itself on offering a superb partridge shoot with dates available throughout the season.
An ideal filming location, the stately home offers fantastic countryside views and an interior to rival any royal building, with aspects of the interior dating back to Jacobean, Regency and Victorian times.
The grand Staterooms:
Enjoy the majestic surroundings of the intricately decorated three main Staterooms that stretch across the length of the house. Located off the Main Hall and through floor-to-ceiling oak panelled – style doors lies firstly The Venetian Drawing Room followed by the Card Room and, finally, The Picture Gallery.
Similar doors feature at the end of each room leading into the next and can be opened to create an area spanning 150 foot or closed as required. The interconnecting rooms complement one another but are uniquely designed and appear just as beautiful standing alone.
The Drawing Room:
The Bow Drawing Room occupies the west wing. It is an elegant and charming room perfect for relaxing and enjoying tea and cakes in the afternoon. It looks out over the hedged garden.
