Hockney Art Lovers' Break

2017 is a big year for David Hockney fans. In July the Bradford-born artist turns 80 and the region’s galleries are putting on exhibitions to celebrate his success.

SEE ORIGINAL DAVID HOCKNEY ART IN YORKSHIRE
There are two places in Yorkshire where you’ll be able to see original works by David Hockney. So if you missed out on tickets to the Hockney Exhibition at The Tate in London, take a short break to Yorkshire and see the landscapes portrayed in many of his works.

Salts Mill in Saltaire, Shipley (near Bradford) houses ‘The Arrival of Spring’ – a collection of 49 original works by Hockney drawn on his iPad and printed at enormous scale. Salts Mill is a wonderful day out. The incredible mills encompass art galleries, a brilliant book shop, designer home store, cafes and much more.

Cartwright Art Gallery in Bradford is opening a brand new gallery in July 2017, in honour of the city’s most famous son. The David Hockney Gallery will house a permanent display of the unrivalled collection of early work owned by the city and will include sketches, paintings, iPad drawings, prints and photographs from Hockney’s life and career and from when he was living and studying in Bradford.

“I used to love going to Cartwright Hall as a kid, it was the only place in Bradford I could see real paintings.” – David Hockney
