Luxury independent four-star hotel Holdsworth House Hotel in Halifax and renowned award-winning independent publisher Bluemoose Books of Hebden bridge have teamed up to offer an exciting new Creative Writing Retreat in 2020.
The Bluemoose Writing School, led by Kevin and Hetha Duffy, is running the two-night, three-day course, which is open to writers of all abilities. On the course, budding writers will reach a greater depth of creative writing, learn how to improve their skills and adopt techniques of professional writers, under the guidance of professional editors and authors, as well as hearing from Bluemoose about the publishing process.
There are up to 10 places available on the writing course, which runs 4-6 May 2020 from £310 per person. Bluemoose Books decided to team up with Jacobean manor Holdsworth House as the venue because of its luxurious and peaceful surroundings, which are conducive to aiding writers’ creativity, and for its connections to West Yorkshire’s rich literary past and present.
With sessions by writer, editor and lecturer Leonora Rustamova and author Clara Barley, the course promises to engage and develop writers’ creative strengths. The break includes two nights’ accommodation, breakfast and dinner or afternoon tea at Holdsworth House – a retreat that anyone would enjoy!
There is also one free bursary place, including travel and accommodation, for a writer from a working class/diverse background. Applicants should contact email@example.com and say why they want to attend.

LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX FILM LOCATIONS
Set in the scenic Yorkshire countryside and nearby towns, Last Tango in Halifax follows the lives of Alan and Celia and their families. The show is written by Yorkshire-born Sally Wainwright. Wainwright has penned some of TV's most high-profile shows of recent times, including Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack, both of which were also filmed near Holdsworth House.
