Wood End Farm is a Grade II* listed farmhouse built in 1626. Our cottage, Wood End Cottage, dates back to the early 1800's and retains lots of period character including open fire and beamed ceiling. The Cottage is surrounded by fields and provides self-catering accommodation for up to three and is furnished to high standard with a beautiful four-poster bed in the master bedroom and a cosy vintage bedstead in the single room. Private parking and secure storage for cycles and saddlery on site. We are open all year round and available for weekly stays, weekend or midweek breaks or why not book one of our luxury romantic stays? We are located on the edge of the stunning Pennines 4 miles from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire and easy to reach by road, rail or air. Pick-up/drop off at local stations/airports or long distance walking points available on request and we provide a baggage fowarding service for our guests.

Located on the edge of the small Yorkshire village of Slaithwaite and close to the vibrant university town of Huddersfield (5.5 miles), accessible via the M62 (2.7 miles) and M1(15.2 miles) and ideally situated for visiting the Peak District and the major tourist sites of West Yorkshire. Wood End Cottage is great place to stay; it boasts outstanding views of open countryside and is a perfect base for walking, cycling or horse riding being within easy reach of outstanding footpaths, cycle routes, bridle paths and perfectly located for the annual Walk & Ride Festival. Bring your walking boots, bring your cycles, bring your dog or bring your horse for an outstanding break in beautiful Yorkshire!

The Colne Valley is steeped in history and its stunning scenery makes it a popular location for film and television companies. The moors, once criss-crossed with trails trodden by generations of pack-horses, are now yours to explore on foot or in the saddle. Wood End Cottage is convenient for the Pennine Bridleway National Trail, National Route 68 (The Pennine Cycleway), and the Pennine Way long distance walk and close to many footpaths and quiet country lanes and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath. Whether you are a casual walker, a seasoned long distance trekker, cyclist or horse rider there will be a trail to suit and our cosy cottage is the perfect place to return to for a relaxing evening.

At Wood End Cottage you are within easy reach are The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Howarth and Bronte Country, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, The Yorkshire Coal Mining Museum, Hardcastle Crags and many fine houses such as Cannon Hall, Shibden Hall and Nostel Priory. Further afield are the attractions of Leeds, Manchester and historic York. Closer to home are the Standedge Tunnel End Visitor Centre, Golcar Museum, Kirklees Light Railway, the classic car collection at Hepworth, Halifax Piece Hall, Summer Wine country and the Peak District. Whatever your interests you will find lots to keep you entertained in the Colne and Holme valleys from Slaithwaite's biennial moonraking, Marsden's Jazz and Folk Festivals, Huddersfield's Festival of Light and many local food festivals - there's always something happening!

From tasty pub grub to gourmet dining the area offers a wide selection of venues to suit all tastes and pockets. Within a mile of Wood End Cottage you can find an award winning farm shop with cafeteria and Slaithwaite boasts a selection of homely pubs and eateries including Mediterrenean, Italian and Indian. A waterside wine bar serves local produce and there is an artisan bakery right on the water's edge where you can enjoy freshly baked produce and more can be found a short drive away so why not indulge yourself, it all awaits you right on our doorstep.
