We don’t think you will be disappointed if you choose Cow Close as your destination for a couple of nights away or a longer stay. We cater for caravans, motorhomes and tents with 22 electric hook-up pitches on grass and hardstandings. There is an area of the site for campers. Our amenity block is brand new for the 2017 season and offers toilets, hot showers, hairdryer and shaver points. We have dishwashing facilities and recycling points as well as information about local attractions and events. WiFi is available. We are open 1st March until 31st October.
Cow Close is owned and managed by two families and offers a peaceful break away from it all. Being surrounded by farmland, an abundance of birds and wildlife can be spotted on a regular basis. Walkers have a huge variety of footpaths to choose from that allow them to explore the local area. We are an ideal stop over for all cyclists with a variety of routes and climbs to choose from including those from the 2014 Tour de France route. Leaflets and maps are available for local rides and we are aiming to be a Cycle friendly site for the 2018 season with secure cycle storage and a cycle wash point.
Cow Close is only 1 mile away from the pretty market town of Leyburn which can be reached by a 2 minute drive or by a short walk across a field footpath. You will find everything you need there with a range of independent shops and a local market on Friday. The Wensleydale Railway operates throughout the summer months between Leeming Bar and Redmire, with both steam and diesel engines as well as special event trains for adults and children alike. In Leyburn and its surrounding villages there are a number of pubs and restaurants offering good quality locally sourced food.
We are in an ideal situation for access to the rest of North Yorkshire including the Yorkshire Dales National Park (5 miles), Richmond (9 miles), Masham (10 miles), Northallerton (17 miles), Hawes (17 miles), Ripon (20 miles), Harrogate (42 miles) and York (47 miles).
The attractions are endless; whether it is exploring one of the many local castles, admiring the waterfalls at Aysgarth, West Burton and Redmire, fishing on the River Ure or visiting Brymor Ice Cream Parlour, Forbidden Corner or the Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes. The Theakston and Black Sheep breweries in Masham are a short drive away, as is the Spa at Swinton Park. Racegoers may fancy a day out at Catterick, Ripon or York Racecourses. Tennants Auction House in Leyburn hosts concerts and events throughout the year.
We pride ourselves on offering everyone a warm welcome, and look forward to your visit!
