Aquarius Rising

Self Catering

Description

Aquarius Rising has been lovingly renovated by renowned modern art collector Greville Worthington. The result is a seamless combination of contemporary stylish interiors alongside the charm of the original building. The walls are adorned with works of art, with world-renowned names as well as artists that have shaped the modern art world. Originally a chapel house, this large luxury holiday home adjoins St Paulinus, a private chapel whose ornate glass windows tower over the courtyard. You may find yourself enchanted with the charm of the building and stylish interiors but do not forget to take in the uninterrupted views across the gardens and the grounds of Brough Park beyond.

Inside the property, soaring ceilings and magnificent windows allow light to flood through, creating an airy and welcoming space. From the generous entrance hallway, you will find the impressive open-plan kitchen/diner, the hub of this holiday house. The kitchen centres around the bespoke 12-seater table made with seats reclaimed from an old London bus, built especially by the owner! A kitchen island with white marble countertops houses a large range cooker and is perfect for preparing an indulgent spread.

As you settle down to a meal, enjoy the warmth from the blazing wood burner tucked away at the end of the room. And afterwards, nothing says luxury after a big family meal than lounging on the large corner sofa and taking in the views of the endless green fields beyond.

Next to the kitchen, a small quirky ‘cocktail room’ with a handmade wooden countertop has the feel of a small but exclusive private members club! Take a sip from your favourite cocktail before discovering the grandeur of the old school room just beyond. This vast space is the ultimate entertaining space, whether you are seated around the large dining table for 12 guests, or dancing the evening away under the shimmering disco ball. The walls are adorned with works from modern artists and photographers, and you will find plenty of comfortable sofas and armchairs in the schoolroom to relax as evening fades into night.

For a quieter spot, the separate sitting room across the hall is a welcoming space where you can throw some logs on the open fire then sink into the plush L-shaped velvet sofa. Catch up on your favourite films on the 65-inch TV with Sony soundbar for maximum entertainment.

Up the carpeted stairs are three spacious first-floor double bedrooms, all with walnut floors and lofty ceilings. The master suite boasts an original fireplace, and an en-suite bathroom almost as big as the bedroom itself! Take a long relaxing soak in the free-standing tub, perfectly placed for daydreaming in front of the enchanting window. You will also find a rainfall shower, twin basins, marble counters, and plenty of storage.

The second bedroom at the top of the stairs overlooks the courtyard and can be set as a super king or as a twin room. Make sure to appreciate the original Damien Hirst artwork on the wall, an incredible addition to this unique home that once hosted a Hirst exhibition in the 1990s. The third large bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and more stunning views of the grounds. A shared shower room is also available on the first floor.

Climb the spiral staircase up to the top of this large luxury holiday home, and find three further double bedrooms which share a large shower room with a double sink. Each bedroom is stylishly and uniquely decorated to the highest standards with furniture that has been carefully chosen by the owner. Each room has zip and link beds allowing guests to choose to set the rooms up as a super king or as a twin room.

Set in 270 acres of private land on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Aquarius Rising does not disappoint! Dig out your wellies, grab the dog’s lead and choose from a range of walks and routes across the beautiful parkland.

Beyond the kitchen, the enclosed decking is a wonderful place to unwind. Soak in the private hot tub, relax in the Swedish sauna, or sit and soak up the sun on the hand-carved wooden bench. An outdoor shower and changing room are handily placed for your convenience.

A back kitchen, through the main kitchen, is fully equipped and houses all the modern appliances you would expect. You will find a large American fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Adjacent to the kitchen is a cloakroom and a laundry room with a washer-dryer, and there is plenty of storage for coats and welly boots. Parking is also plentiful outside the house.

Linen, towels, and bathrobes, as well as miniature toiletries, and a locally sourced welcome hamper are all included in this large luxury holiday home. Families with young children can request a cot and a high chair free of charge. Up to two dogs are welcome at Aquarius Rising at a small additional cost per night, and they are sure to enjoy the many walks across the estate and beyond.

Set in 270 acres of private land on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Aquarius Rising offers guests a unique countryside break within a short drive of plenty of local amenities. By no means do you have to travel at all with a vast range of lovely walks all on your doorstep from a ramble over the fields to more adventurous walks that take in the local countryside. Within a half-mile are a Nisa petrol station, a small Co-Op store and Boots chemist. In nearby Catterick Garrison, you will find supermarkets, plus many other shops and facilities including a cinema, leisure centre and gym.

The property is a short drive from the popular market town of Richmond. With its 11th-century castle, fine historic buildings, cobbled marketplace and hidden corners, Richmond is a treasure trove for visitors. We recommend Rustique, a popular French restaurant and Number 29 for gin and tapas. The local area has a huge choice of options for eating and drinking, whether you’re looking for laid-back food or fine dining.

We can highly recommend a visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, which the owner of Aquarius Rising is involved with. Tours take 3-4 hours, though many visitors spend the majority of the day there exploring the grounds which are both family-friendly and allow dogs.

Wind into the Yorkshire Dales National Park which is just a short drive away, whilst the stunning landscape of the North York Moors is a 30-minute drive. The towns of Harrogate and York are two of our favourites to visit for their shops, dining, and culture; both are under an hour away as is the stunning Yorkshire Coast.
