From the gravelled courtyard, step inside into an enclosed foyer with plenty of space for storing boots, coats and bags after a day spent exploring the local area. The feather theme from which the cottage gets its name is subtly introduced with a fabulous arrangement inside the front door.
Enter into the ground floor open-plan living room and kitchen, an inviting space in which to relax, grab a holiday read or to spend a lazy afternoon in front of the 45 inch Smart TV. A comfy armchair, two-seater sofa and perfectly placed footstool invite you to while away your time in total comfort.
The well-equipped shaker style kitchen includes a dishwasher, oven and induction hob. Then retire to the dining table, with space for four, having rustled up delicious fare sourced from the weekly Yorkshire markets or local producers.
A comfy rattan table and chairs sit outside under the porch for a morning coffee or an evening gin and tonic. Outside the cottage, the courtyard is a pleasant sun trap during summer months, with a wrought iron table and chairs. This holiday cottage is well located near Masham and West Tanfield. Make sure to bring your boots as there are plenty of great walks to explore.
Guest will adore the craftsmanship of the bespoke oak and glass staircase, and the feel of the lush carpets when winding upstairs to the first-floor bedroom. The theme of feathers continues throughout the cottage and on to the stunning feature headboard, custom made for this cottage. The bed is superking-sized and comfy with crisp white sheets. You will find a large dressing table with a mirror and a built-in smart TV opposite the bed for long, lazy lie-ins.
The in the en-suite bathroom is a large walk-in rainfall shower. The vanity unit has plenty of storage, and soft under-counter lights if you’re the last one to bed and don’t want to wake up your partner. Fluffy towels and bathrobes are included.
A locally sourced welcome hamper will greet guests on arrival. Linen, towels and bathrobes are provided. The kitchen is well equipped and comes with an integrated fridge with ice-box, Bosch oven with grill and induction hob and a dishwasher. A charcoal BBQ is available however guests should bring their own charcoal. There is wi-fi throughout the property. Please be aware due to the size of the property only babes in arms can be accommodated.
Outside the property is parking for 2 cars on the gravel courtyard, as well as plenty of storage space for bikes, boots, and other outdoor equipment.

The nearby village of West Tanfield is a popular spot, with lovely walks along the River Ure or around Nosterfield Nature Reserve. There is an excellent choice of pubs for food and drink, and a well-stocked village shop here too.
Masham is the closest town, and in our opinion no trip is complete without a tour of the popular Black Sheep Brewery! Stroll around the farmers’ market on Sunday’s (open from April to October), go riding across the beautiful Dales with Masham Riding School, or relax and indulge at Swinton’s country club and spa.
Bedale, Ripon and Thirsk are also a short drive away, and offer a wide choice of places to eat and drink, plenty of shops and galleries to explore. You may have heard of the Ripon Rowel Walk which runs nearby to this holiday cottage, and Hackfall Woods near Masham is a wonderful location to stretch the legs.
Ripon is a beautiful city and a destination worth visiting, only 15-minutes away. The horse racing at the racecourse, the beautiful towering cathedral, the wide choice for eating out, plus the cinema are all to be enjoyed. The 25 acres of award winning gardens at Newby Hall, 20-minutes away, are stunning, as is the house which is open to the public.
Wherever you choose to explore, the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Studley Royal Park and Fountains Abbey is a stunning sight not to miss.
