The town is home to the stunning abbey which overlooks the colourful harbour and marina, and is the departure point for steam rides across the moors aboard the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Smugglers coves include Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes where tumbling cottages cling to the cliff edges. Further inland are the North York Moors, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where quaint villages tucked away deep in the valleys await discovery.
